Karen Glasser Sharp is a director and a member of the firm's education law, litigation, and labor and employment practice groups. She specializes in assisting school corporations and other public entities with educational and labor-related issues. Karen has extensive litigation experience representing schools and private entities, including employment discrimination matters, special education hearings, First Amendment issues, civil rights violations, and tort claims, among others. She also has represented clients before the National Labor Relations Board and the Indiana Educational Employment Relations Board. She has experience representing employers and schools in arbitrations, mediations, administrative law hearings, state and federal court trials, and appeals. She is a frequent author and speaker, addressing a variety of topics regarding educating students with disabilities, complying with educational laws and regulations, and addressing labor and employment issues.

Karen is a frequent speaker to employers, educators, ISBA, IASBO, ICASE, and CJA on various topics including: social media and its effect on education; the Family and Medical Leave Act; strategies for avoiding due process; dealing with dangerous and aggressive students; seclusion and restraint practices and policies; preventing and responding to complaints of disability harassment; Section 504; Article 7 and the IDEA; sexual harassment; teacher termination; bullying prevention and remediation; teacher evaluation; student discipline; handling employee misconduct, abuse, and incompetence; alternative and private schools; discipline, functional behavioral assessments and behavioral improvement plans; assistive technology and services; DCS investigations; health insurance disputes; employee handbooks; employee privacy issues; Americans with Disabilities Act; hiring, accommodation and termination; workers' compensation; board ethics and governance; and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.
